OBJECTIVES
  • To encourage youths to express their love and pride for Singapore and instill in them a stronger sense of belonging.
  • To engage the younger generation in the festivities of SG50.
  • To inspire an interest in infocomm among youths and encourage innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.
  • To spread the word about the app developing scene in Singapore.

CHALLENGE STRUCTURE

 

 

  • Process Arrow Process Arrow
    STAGE A: DELIVERABLES
    A PowerPoint presentation (.ppt; .pptx; .pct) showcasing the main idea of the app and explaining the applicability and relevance of the app to the theme and real-life scenarios.
    A write-up(.doc; .docx; .pdf) of not more than 500 words explaining the functionality and features of the application. (Screenshots may be included for illustrative purposes)
    Note : All files (for both deliverables) should not exceed 5MB in size.

    STAGE B: DELIVERABLES
    A working prototype that demonstrates the full functionalities & features of their mobile app based on ideas submitted for Stage A (for Tertiary teams only). A presentation of ideas (for Pre-tertiary teams) & prototypes (Tertiary teams) will be presented to a judging panel in a pitch of not longer than 5 minutes.
    An A2-sized poster (.pdf) in portrait layout that summarizes the following information:
    • - Summary of the functionalities
    • - Key objectives
    • - Technologies/Platforms used (e.g. Apple iOS SDK, PHP, MySQL, Netbeans IDE, etc.)
    • - Dataset(s) used
    A CD/DVD containing all application/solution source files, presentation files, user manuals and the poster for judging & verification.
  • STAGE C: DELIVERABLES
    A pitch of not longer than 5 minutes to the judging panel and a live audience that will be followed by a 5 minute Q&A session.
    Top 20 finalists will need to prepare a booth setup for the Talent Showcase at the Awards Ceremony. (Submitted A2-sized posters will be printed for the teams)
CATEGORIES OF PARTICIPATION
  • Pre-Tertiary
    (For students from secondary schools and junior colleges)
  • Tertiary
    (For students from ITE, polytechnics, and universities)

ELIGIBILITY
  • Each team is comprised of maximum 3 students from the same school, college or institution.
  • Teams must appoint a Mentor (Full or Part-Time Teacher / Lecturer) from their school, college or institution who:
    — is able to provide guidance or assistance and
    — is the Point of Contact throughout the challenge
