1.1 All participants and mentors have to provide the necessary personal and contact information
1.2 All team participants have to be enrolled in their respective institutions participating in the competition
1.3 Employees of organisers and sponsors and their immediate family members are not eligible for this contest.
1.4 Information or data collected from the entrant is subject to the PDPA.
1.5 Singapore Computer Society and the Splash Awards 2016 Committee will not entertain any late submissions, unless the submission deadline has been amended
1.6 Failure to adhere to the above will result in immediate disqualification from the competition
1.7 By entering this contest, the mentors and participants are deemed to have agreed to be bound by the contest rules and terms and conditions of this contest. This is an irrevocable condition of entry.
2. Content of Entries
2.1 All teams must ensure that all entries submitted are original, unpublished works which have been created by the participant(s) and that the entry does not infringe any copyright or any other intellectual property rights of any third party
2.2 Each team or individual is only allowed to submit 1 entry in this competition
2.3 No amendments or changes can be made to the entries after they have been submitted
2.4 Participants must ensure prototypes are working before submission
2.5 Singapore Computer Society, the sponsors, and the judging panel reserve the right, to immediately disqualify any entry deemed obscene, defamatory, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate in nature or content in the context of Singapore
2.6 Singapore Computer Society shall not be liable for entries lost, damaged or delayed in the post, or due to computer error in transit
2.7 All entries must be made by the Closing Date and in the manner set out in the Competition Terms. Failure to do so will result in disqualification
3. Intellectual Property Rights
3.1 All participants will own the Intellectual Property rights of their respective submitted projects
3.2 Singapore Computer Society and the sponsors shall have the rights to use any or all of the materials and applications submitted for publicity purposes without giving any of the participants any remuneration or royalties in any form whatsoever
3.3 Singapore Computer Society and the sponsors shall credit the owners of any submitted Intellectual Property that is featured in their publicity materials
3.4 Singapore Computer Society and sponsors shall also have the right to co-develop and market the winning applications with the owners of the Intellectual Property
3.5 The license granted in clauses 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 shall include the license to convert the aforementioned materials into machine-readable form and to store them electronically on digital libraries, network configurations or other similar arrangements accessible for search, selection, and shall only be for all educational uses or for non-commercial purposes. It shall also include the making of such copies as it is necessary for backup and disaster recovery purposes
3.6 There will be discussion regarding usage, co-development and co-ownership of any Intellectual property after the Splash Awards Ceremony for winning projects only
4. Mobile Game Award
4.1 NCPC will have the right to co-develop and market the application that wins the Mobile Game Award with the owners of the Intellectual Property. This section supersedes section 3.4.
4.2 Winners of the Mobile Game Award are also eligible for other Splash Award prizes
4.3 The entry for the Mobile Game Award must include no less than 3 out of 5 sub-themes covered in Splash Awards.
4.4 Cyber Security needs to be a Compulsory sub-theme to be included in the entry submission, for consideration for the Mobile Game Award.
5. Decision of Judging Panel
5.1 The decision of the judging panel is final. No appeals will be entertained
5.2 The judging panel reserves the right to disqualify any team which is deemed to have tampered with or disrupted the entry process or operation of this contest, or violated its rules.
6. Terms of Prizes
6.1 The prizes as stated, are not transferable to another individual or team and no cash or other alternatives will be offered
6.2 The winning team, or representative of the winning team is required to present their photo identification document to claim their prize
7. Changes to the Plans and Themes
7.1 Singapore Computer Society reserves the right to make any changes to the plans and themes of the Splash Awards 2016 without prior notice
8. Force Majeure
8.1 SCS reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter's control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to mentors and participants as soon as possible by the relevant committees
