I was having a conversation with my alter ego earlier on. No, not the one in a mirror. A real person living on the other side of the world to me. This person is as much a windows person as I am a Linux person.
This person lamented to me that with the release of w8 the Linux crowd have become extremely nasty and trollish in bringing the newest offering of microsoft down. They stated that Linux people never used to be like this and any sympathy he felt for them has now evaporated due to their latest actions.
Personally I had not noticed such abnormal behaviour however I had been very busy and only given a cursory glance at the hype/anti-hype surrounding w8. Actually not quite true. I just didn't care enough about w8 to follow it closely :)
If Linux afficionados have become more trollish in their decrying of all things microsoft what could the reason behind that be? Perhaps after years of being ridiculed and beaten down they decided that enough is enough?
Perhaps with sluggish sales of w8 and surface rt they see a chance to say "SEE, WE WERE RIGHT!". Perhaps the Linux crowd took a leaf from microsofts book and figured out that the only way to be successful is to ridicule and dump on the opposition as much as they have been ridiculed and dumped on.
